James Stevens No. 10
The James Stevens No.10 ( ON 435 ) was built for St.Ives by the Thames Ironworks in 1899. At 37.5 Ft. she was too long to be taken through the narrow streets of St. Ives so was delivered to Hayle and from there she was taken by sea to her new station. She was a “self-righter” rowing /sailing lifeboat and had a very successful career during her 33 years in service at St. Ives launching 59 times and saving 227 lives and 5 dogs
